Each joint marked with a knife and sawn to the line by hand.

From the maker
Denham is the first piece every new maker in the workshop builds. It has one joint that matters, the wedged stretcher, and if that is right, the bench will outlast all of us.

Two of them at our Hamelin table. Heavy, steady, and the wedges are a lovely thing to see at the ends.

The regional run brought it all the way down south, wrapped in blankets, and the driver carried it inside.

Questions about the Denham
How long does the Denham take to make?
About 8 weeks from your order. Tasmanian oak, 150 cm is ready to ship and leaves the workshop within a week.
Will mine look like the photographs?
Close, but every board is different. The grain, the gum veins and the depth of colour change from piece to piece, which is the point of solid timber.
How many people fit on a bench?
Two or three adults on the 150 cm bench, three or four on the 200 cm. Children, more.
Can it be made to a different size?
Yes, as a commission. Send us the size and we will draw it and quote within a week.
How do I look after an oiled finish?
Wipe spills straight away and dry the surface. Once a year, rub in a thin coat of the oil from the care kit. A mark can be sanded lightly and oiled away.
