Website design by Bartley Studio
Gloam, Ovis, Kerf, Larder, Linnet, Graft and Slow Ground are concept brands we designed and built in full, to show six stores and a service business. They are not real businesses. Client websites will appear here as they launch.
GloamA ceramic lamp store you can dim from afternoon to night, switching every lamp on.
OvisA heritage rug house with a room visualiser that lays any rug into a room, a custom rug builder and a rug ledger you can search.
KerfA hardwood furniture maker whose table sizer draws your dining table in your room, to scale, with the walkway around it.
LarderA kitchen and table shop where you set a whole table from above in your colours and buy it as one set.
LinnetA linen bedding studio that dresses one bed in ten colourways, with a price for the whole bed in your size.
GraftA workwear brand with a jacket you can wear in from new to five years, and a size finder that works from your chest.
Slow GroundA garden design studio with stepping-stone photos, a plan you can explore and a flowering calendar.
Websites that load fast, read clearly and get found by search engines and AI
These go into every build, whichever platform it is on.
Copy that sells the offer
Headings that say what you sell and who it is for, on every page.
Fast on a phone
Optimised images and light code, so pages open quickly on mobile data.
Ready for search and AI
Text, links and structured data in the page itself, so Google and AI answers can read and quote it.
Accessible
Keyboard friendly, labelled controls and readable contrast, checked on every page.
One next step per page
Every page leads somewhere, with the evidence placed where doubts come up.
Built for your imagery
Designed around product photos and video, which Bartley Studio can make too.
This site is the example
Every page of this site passes the same checks before it goes up.
- One clear headline and a clean heading order
- Text, links and structured data readable without JavaScript
- No layout breaks at phone, tablet, laptop and desktop sizes
- Every image with alt text and fixed dimensions
What a better website could be worth to your business
Put in your own numbers to see how long a new site would take to pay for itself. Switch to enquiries if you sell a service.
How fast a better website could pay for itself
Does that feel like a fair investment for what you expect back?
Start a website projectYour numbers, not a promise: the lift depends on how your current site performs. This counts revenue before costs, and leaves out new visitors from better search rankings.
How a website project runs, from first call to launch
You tell us about the business and approve the design. The rest happens here.

Website questions brands ask before they start
Do you build Shopify stores?
Yes. Bartley Studio designs and codes custom Shopify themes, and builds headless Shopify storefronts with Astro. Your products, stock, checkout and orders stay in Shopify either way.
Do I need to know what I want my site to look like?
No. Bartley Studio creatively directs every website. Tell us what you sell, who buys it and what your current site is not doing, and we design the pages around your buyers, then show you before anything is built.
What is headless Shopify?
Headless Shopify keeps Shopify for products, stock and checkout, and replaces the theme with a separate, custom-coded storefront. Bartley Studio builds these storefronts with Astro and hosts them on Cloudflare, for faster pages and full design control.
Should my store use a custom Shopify theme or go headless?
Most stores are best served by a custom Shopify theme, which keeps the theme editor and every Shopify app working. Headless suits stores that need the fastest pages or layouts a theme cannot do. Bartley Studio recommends one in the quote.
Why do you build websites with Astro and Cloudflare?
Astro builds pages as ready-made HTML, so they load fast and search engines and AI answers can read every word. Cloudflare serves those pages from data centres around the world, close to each visitor.
Can you redesign my existing Shopify store?
Yes. Bartley Studio can redesign an existing Shopify store as a new custom theme, keeping your products, customers and order history in Shopify.
Do you build websites for service businesses?
Yes. Bartley Studio builds custom-coded Astro sites on Cloudflare for service businesses, with a page for each service and area, and enquiry forms that pre-qualify leads.
How much does a website cost?
Bartley Studio quotes each website on the pages, templates and features it needs, so there is no fixed price. Tell us about the project on the contact page and you get a clear quote.

Store conversion questions answered in depth
Longer answers from the Answers library, for when the short version is not enough.
- My store gets traffic but no sales. What's wrong?
- My ads get clicks but no sales. Is it the ad or the store?
- How do I reduce a high bounce rate?
- Should paid social traffic land on the product page or a landing page?
- Do large image files slow my store and hurt conversion?
- My collection page looks messy because images are different sizes. How do I fix it?
