What we do
Worn-through elbow
We set a patch of matching 14 oz duck behind the elbow and darn the worn canvas down onto it, so it bends like the rest of the sleeve.

How a free repair works, from satchel to doorstep
Three steps and about two weeks door to door. You pay nothing at any point, and you can track it by its repair number.

01Book it and we post you a satchel
Tell us what needs fixing below. A paper satchel arrives in two or three working days, with a prepaid label.

02A machinist fixes it in Carrington
At the repairs bench, in canvas or flannel from the same bolts we sew new pieces from, so the patch matches.

03It comes home washed and tied
Washed, pressed, tied with cotton tape and posted back free, with a note of what was done.

Five years of daily wear and one free patch
This Carrington jacket has been worn most working days since 2021 by a cabinetmaker in Wickham. In five years it has come back once, for the bottom corner of a hip pocket. It went home eight days later.
See it new, at one year and at fiveWe would rather fix one jacket five times than sell you five jackets.

What a free repair covers, and the few things it cannot
Wear and tear is covered for the life of the piece, whoever owns it now. Accidents are covered too.
Covered, free
- Worn elbows, knees, cuffs and collars
- Torn pockets and split seams
- Lost buttons, rivets and buckles
- Burns, spark holes and cuts
- Cracked or stretched apron straps
- Pieces bought second-hand
Not something we can fix
- Shrinkage from a hot wash or the dryer
- Stains and paint, though we can patch over them
- Workwear from other makers
- A piece worn past saving: we will tell you, and take 30% off a new one
Questions about free repairs
Do I need a receipt?
No. Every Graft piece has a run number inside the collar or waistband, which tells us when and where it was made. Second-hand pieces are covered too.
How many times can I send something back?
As many times as it needs. Some of the 2016 jackets have been through the bench four times.
Will the patch match?
We patch with canvas or flannel from the same bolts we sew new pieces from. New canvas is deeper than faded canvas, so a patch shows at first and fades in over a year or so.
How long does it take?
About two weeks door to door: two or three days for the satchel to reach you, a few working days on the bench, and two or three days back.
Can I drop it at the factory?
Yes. The factory shop on Elizabeth Street, Carrington is open on the first Saturday of the month, 8 am to noon, and the repairs bench takes drop-offs then.
