Care
Wash cold, inside out, and hang to dry. Skip the dryer: heat sets creases and shrinks duck. For a showerproof finish, rub in canvas wax and set it with a hair dryer. Full care guide

Measured flat on the cutting table, after the factory wash. Canvas softens with wear but does not stretch, so choose for the room you want on day one.

How the Carrington jacket wears in, new to five years
Photographed new, after a year of most working days, and after five. The canvas softens to your shape and fades at every edge; the one patch on it was done free.
Straight from the box: stiff, crisp and deep tobacco. It stands up on its own for the first week.
- Canvas
- Stiff, with sharp fold lines
- Colour
- Even, deep tobacco
- Elbows

Why Linh Tran checks every Carrington collar
The collar is the part I watch. Two thicknesses of 14 oz duck have to turn a clean point, and if it is not right it goes back under the needle. I have sewn about eleven thousand of them.

Stiff as a board for the first month, then it turned into the jacket I reach for every morning. Three years in and the elbows are just starting to go soft.

Questions about the Carrington chore jacket
Will it shrink?
Very little. Every jacket is washed once at the factory before it is sold, so a cold wash at home shrinks it by less than 2%.
How long until it softens?
Most people say four to six weeks of daily wear. Wash it cold, hang it dry and it softens faster.
Is it waterproof?
No. Tight 14 oz duck sheds a light shower, and a bar of canvas wax rubbed in and set with a hair dryer makes it showerproof.
How do free repairs work?
Book a repair online and we post you a paper satchel. Post it back free, and it comes home patched, darned or re-riveted in about eight working days, for as long as you own it.
What if the size is wrong?
Exchange it free within 60 days, posted both ways, even after a few days of wear.
