17 pattern pieces and about 58 minutes of work in our Carrington factory, from the bolt of cloth to the rail.

Every piece laid so the check runs on across the front, the pockets and the flaps.
02Sewn
Flat-felled side seams, a chain-stitched hem and a two-piece collar.
03Checked
Buttons sewn on with a thread shank, then washed once and pressed.
04Packed
Folded around card, tied with cotton tape, no plastic.

Brushed on both faces, so it is soft against your skin and traps warm air on a cold morning in the shed. Roll the sleeves twice and it stays put.

Matching the check is the slow part. Each pocket and flap is cut on its own so the lines run on from the front without a jump. You notice when it is wrong, even if you cannot say why.

Questions about the Stockton flannel shirt
Is it thick enough to wear as a jacket?
At 9 oz it is a heavy shirt, warm enough to wear on its own on a cool day and thin enough under the Carrington jacket.
Will it pill?
Flannel brushed on both sides sheds a little fluff in the first two washes, then settles. Wash it inside out, cold.
Can I mix two checks?
Yes. Choose two shirts and pick a different check for the second.
How do free repairs work?
Book a repair online and we post you a paper satchel. Post it back free, and it comes home patched, darned or re-riveted in about eight working days, for as long as you own it.
What if the size is wrong?
