Care

Wash at 40 degrees with like colours and a gentle liquid detergent, without bleach or softener. Line-dry for a crisper feel or tumble on low for a softer one. Never iron it: the creases are part of stonewashed linen. Washing and drying linen

How every Linnet duvet cover is made

About five months from a flax field in Normandy to the long table in Grey Lynn.

  1. Grown

Fibre flax from the Lefèvre farm near Fécamp, in flower for a week each June.

  2. Woven

Woven at the Ferraz mill near Guimarães to 165 grams a square metre.

  3. Sewn

Cut 3 cm over size to allow for the wash, with corozo buttons and four corner ties.

  4. Stonewashed

Washed twice with Taupō pumice, then tumble-dried in Grey Lynn.

A linen duvet cover that goes on in two minutes

Turn it inside out, tie the four corners to your duvet, and shake it through. The corozo buttons stay done up, wash after wash.

From the studio

We spent a year on the buttons. Plastic snapped in the dryer and wood split, so we use corozo, cut from the nut of the tagua palm. It will outlast the linen, and the linen lasts decades.

Colour as pictured
  • We sleep cooler under this than under the cotton we had before. Estuary is softer and greyer in person, which is exactly what we wanted.

  • Arrived in Melbourne four days after we ordered, folded in a linen bag we now take to the beach. Softer after every wash, as the card said.

Rob and Ellie T.Fitzroy, Flax, king

    Verified owner, August 2026

  • The buttons stay done up and the corner ties hold the duvet in place. No more wrestling it back into the cover on a Sunday.

    Priya S.Wellington, Clay, queen

    Verified owner, July 2026

  • A beautiful cover, more creased than I expected for the first week. Now I would not want it any other way.

Questions about the duvet cover

Which duvet inner fits?

Any standard inner of the same size: a queen cover takes a 210 × 210 cm queen inner. Our covers are cut 3 cm over size, so after the wash they fit snugly, never tight.

How do the corner ties work?

Each inside corner has a 25 cm cotton tape. Tie it through the loop on your duvet's corner, or around the corner itself, and the inner stays square.

Will my duvet cover shrink?

Stonewashing shrinks it in the studio, so expect no more than 2% after your first wash at 40 degrees.

Can I mix colours on one bed?

Yes. Our five colours are dyed to sit together. Make the bed shows our pairings, and any duvet cover and sheet set are 10% less together.

Do you sell duvet inners?

Not yet. We recommend a light wool inner for summer and a mid-weight down inner for winter under linen.
