Care

Wash at 40 degrees with like colours and a gentle liquid detergent, without bleach or softener. Line-dry for a crisper feel or tumble on low for a softer one. Never iron it: the creases are part of stonewashed linen. Washing and drying linen

How every Linnet pillowcase is made

About five months from a flax field in Normandy to the long table in Grey Lynn.

  1. Woven

Woven at the Ferraz mill near Guimarães to 165 grams a square metre.

  2. Sewn

A 20 cm envelope folded and sewn in, so the pillow stays in and nothing shows.

  3. Stonewashed

Washed twice with Taupō pumice, so they are soft against your face the first night.

  4. Folded

Checked under daylight, paired, folded and tied with undyed cotton tape.

European and standard pillowcases for a properly made bed

Two European squares against the headboard and two standard pillows in front: the way every bed in our photographs is made.

From the studio

Pillowcases go through the wash more than anything else on a bed, so we cut the envelope deep. After the pumice they come out soft enough to sleep on that same night.

  • The cool side of the pillow, all night. My hair is less of a mess in the morning too.

  • We bought Clay to go with our Flax sheets, one of the pairings on the website, and the bed looks better than it ever has.

Questions about the pillowcases

Standard or European?

Standard pillowcases (50 × 75 cm) fit the pillows you sleep on. European (65 × 65 cm) fit the square pillows that stand against the headboard.

Will they fit a king pillow?

A standard case fits standard and most queen pillows. For long king pillows, email us: we sew king cases to order.

Do they have buttons?

No. A deep 20 cm envelope holds the pillow in, with nothing to press into your cheek.

Why are they sold in pairs?

Because pillows come in pairs on a bed, and a pair keeps the colour and the wear the same on both sides.

Can they go with sheets in another colour?

Yes, that is what they are for. Clay pillowcases with Flax sheets, or Salt with Estuary, are two of our favourites.
