Are AI-generated product videos good enough for paid social yet (Veo, Kling, Runway)?
The short answer
For product-led shots, yes, when they are planned, selected and edited rather than posted straight from the tool. Tools such as Veo, Kling and Runway now handle camera moves, materials, light and settings well. They still struggle with label text, hands handling the product and long continuous takes, and generated people talking to camera are a separate problem. Judge the result on CPA in a fair test.
Which AI product video shots are ready for paid social?
Shots where the product is the subject and the motion is simple: a camera move around it, a push in on a texture, fabric settling, light moving across a room, the product placed in a setting.
These are also the shots a studio shoot spends most of its budget on: the set, the light and the time. When the product photos are accurate and each shot is planned, the result holds up at phone size in Reels, Stories and the feed.
Where does AI product video still fall short?
Wherever detail has to stay fixed across frames or a person has to do something precise. Label text, logos, printed patterns and hand interaction are the common failures.
- Readable text on packaging, which can warp as the product turns
- Hands opening, pouring or assembling the product
- Long continuous takes, because each generation is short
- Mechanisms such as hinges, recliners and extending tables
- Generated people talking to camera, which raise trust and disclosure questions as well as quality ones
Plan around the first four: cut before the moment text would warp, show a mechanism in two shots rather than one, and keep hand shots short or leave them out. The fifth is a creator’s job.
How do Veo, Kling and Runway fit into a product video workflow?
They generate the shots, and the planning and the edit happen outside them. Each produces short clips from an image and a direction, so a 15-second ad is several generations cut together.
As one example, Google’s documentation for Veo 3.1 lists clips of 4, 6 or 8 seconds, accepts up to three reference images to guide what appears, and can extend a Veo clip by 7 seconds at a time. Versions and limits change every few months, so check the current documentation of whichever tool you use.
- Plan the shots: what each one shows, in what order and for how many seconds
- Generate several takes of each shot from accurate product photos
- Keep only the takes where the product stays true from the first frame to the last
- Edit: cut, time, add text and sound, and build the 9:16 version for Reels and Stories
- Check every frame against the real product before anything goes live
Do AI product videos perform as well as filmed ones in ads?
There is no reliable published comparison, so test it in your own account. Put an AI product video and your best filmed or static control in the same campaign, and judge on CPA over several rounds.
What AI changes is volume and speed: more distinct openings, settings and lengths for the same budget, in days rather than weeks. Under Andromeda, genuinely different creatives give delivery more to work with, so the number of distinct videos you can afford to test is the real gain. How different creatives need to be under Andromeda covers what counts as distinct.
Do AI product video ads need a label on Meta or TikTok?
Sometimes, and the rules differ by platform and changed during 2026. The disclosure answer sets out what Meta, Google and TikTok each label or require.
Separately from any label, the Australian Consumer Law requires that an ad does not mislead, so the product in the video has to be the product customers receive. A changed colour, a missing button or a stretched proportion is a problem with or without a label.
What does Bartley Studio make with AI video?
Product videos planned, directed, generated and edited in-house from photos of the product: a 9:16 hook for Reels, Stories and phones, or a 16:9 loop for the homepage and desktop product pages, from 6 to 60 seconds.
There are no generated spokespeople talking to camera. One 10-second video is $500, three are $830 and five are $1,130, in AUD excluding GST, delivered in days rather than weeks. Ad creative builds them into finished ads to Meta placement specs, with a test plan for each batch.
Other questions people ask about this
Should we use the AI video tools inside Meta’s Ads Manager instead?
They are free and quick, and worth testing alongside your own videos. Review every version before it runs, because automated edits can change how the product looks.
Is Veo better than Kling or Runway for products?
Each one improves every few months and each has strengths, so test the same shot in two or three tools rather than committing to one. The planning, selection and editing affect the result more than the choice of tool.
How long should an AI product video ad be?
As short as the message allows: Meta’s creative checklist suggests 6 to 10 seconds for direct-response ads. That is long enough for an opening, one proof shot and an offer.
